What An Idiot: @andykoz’s List of Cinema Shame.

I’m such a fuck (can I swear on this blog?).

Back in 2012, (like it was so fucking long ago) I did this same sort of thing with watching one movie I had never seen before each day of the year. 365 movies total (List here: http://aloneonmycouch.tumblr.com/post/39496307106/the-complete-list). Finished it but totally forgot some supposedly “great” and “classic” films. I’ll be the judge of that, assholes. How did I choose these? Who the cares. Hopefully my writing and thoughts will be better this time around since it’s only 12 movies. Don’t hold your breath.

1) TAKEN – I guess people really like this for some unexpected reasons. I bought it for $5 on Amazon last month so it’s sitting around.

2) RAIN MAN – I guess it’s not about a weather man?

3) CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND – A little Spielberg to watch. I hope it’s Micheal Bay caliber.

4) DEAD POETS SOCIETY – My dad tried to get me to watch this as a kid. This shit was SO fucking boring. 2nd shot this time around.

5)  SORCERER – Wages of Fear is in my top 5 films of all time. I cannot wait to finally see this!

6) INSOMNIA – In Nolan we trust right? (no, did you see The Dark Knight Rises?)

7) ALIEN 3 – Can I just watch the Doc about it instead??

8) DO THE RIGHT THING – A Spike Lee Joint

9) ERASER – Insert funny one-liner

10) THE EXORCIST – Yeah, not even once.

11) AMARCORD – 8 1/2 & I Vitelloni are my favorite Fellini films so I’ll try this supposedly crazy one out.

12) THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST – I’ll admit it, I’ve probably only seen 2/3 of Scorsese’ films. I don’t know why I chose this one to watch over the others I haven’t seen.

Cheers.

Forgive me, Internet. I have Shamed. by @TheActualKeith

Watching movies has always been like a job for me. I love movies. I watch as many as I can, but somehow there have been many that still elude me. I try my best to keep up and catch up, but it’s hard when I’m the only one keeping myself accountable.

Now, thanks to the Internet (Thanks, Mr. Gore!), @campbelldropout, and @007hertzrumble I have other people that will keep me accountable for at least 12 films I really should have seen now. Although, seeing the lists of others, I don’t feel as bad. This site is like a great little support group.

“Hi, my name is Keith, and I’ve never seen…”

My list:

January: Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)* and Caddyshack (1980)

February: Sound of Music (1965)

March: Citizen Kane (1941)**

April: Braveheart (1995)

May: North By Northwest (1959)** and Vertigo (1958)**

June: The Graduate (1967)

July: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (1966)**

August: Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

September: Blade Runner (1982)

October: Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

November: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)

December: It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)

* I watched Glengarry Glen Ross a couple days before this idea was born. I thought about counting it for January since I had never seen it before, but that felt like cheating. That’s why I’m adding Caddyshack.

** I feel like I’ve seen these movies before, but it was so long ago, I can’t remember if I did. I couldn’t tell you anything outside of the standard synopsis, or the pop culture references. Maybe I saw them as a kid, or I only saw clips in a film class. Either way, I need to dedicate time to these.
